My work around is to use the .forward file on all my mail servers except
one. All my  mail gets forwarded to one server. Not what you were looking
for....

You've found a bug in wlibsock.dll.  Apparently, LWP's DNS code gags on a host
that resolves to more than five IP addresses, which is the case for
gopher.tc.umn.edu.  Novell *has* fixed wlibsock.dll, but I'm not sure if it's
been officially released yet.  Contact [e-mail] to check on the
availability of the patches.

In the meantime, if you control your own DNS resolvers, you can spoof things
so that gopher.tc.umn.edu resolves into only one IP.  Just put something like:

    primary   gopher.tc.umn.edu      gopher

in your local named.boot file, and create a host file "gopher" which contains:

    IN      A       128.101.62.12

While this may not be a "recommended" practice, it worked for me. HGopher and friends are now able to connect to gopher.tc.umn.edu without a hitch.

Subject: Chameleon NFS between two PC's - Can't Print!!

     I would like to share a printer on a remote PC.  I'm trying Netmanage's
Chameleon NFS, which is running on both machines (under Windows 3.1).
     I have exported directories on both machines, and can transfer files
flawlessly.  I've configured the machine with the printer to allow printer
access, and selected a spooling directory (that I have permission to).
Finally, from the other machine, I can look up the printer name, and make a
connection.  Everything appears fine up until now.
     The problem comes with I try to actually print something.  I don't get an
error message, windows just hangs, or crashes (sends me to dos).  I can't
figure out what's wrong.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Note: The two PC's are not on the same subnet.  Should this matter?

it might be that your newsserver dosen't access all the newsgroups. in that
case you just have to get your sys. admin. to add that group. i know here i
can't access some groups that i want to but that is just because the sys.
admin. hasn't added them.

I've just begun trying out WinTrump; I specified a signature file in the Setup
dialog box (and saved the settings), but the message I just posted appeared
without a signature.

I noticed the same thing.  My solution was to edit the news.grp file to
include the missing newsgroups, which I knew were available on the server.

I seem to recall something in the docs about problems related to having a
large number of newgroups (> 2000-3000) available on the server, that they
might not all show up.

My solution worked fine.

Subject: NetManage winsock.dll v4.03 bug

When the maintenance in the 4.03 patches are installed, the 4.0 winsock.dll
file is replaced.  The replacement causes a GPF in winsock.dll at 0001:25C8.

>From my traces, it looks as if it is in the shutdown() function; the
parameters that I had used were (socket#, 1), to get a FIN sent to the remote
host.  After I restored the original dll, the function executed ok.
